The Port au Port East Twilight 50+ Club recently celebrated two decades as a seniors Club. About 75 seniors gathered at the club to acknowledge this milestone.

The evening began with a warm welcome extended to all  by Emcee Jean Abbott. Jean introduced the head table guests, who included Port au Port East Mayor Eileen Hann and her husband Bob; Senator Ethel Cochrane; MHA Tony Cornect and his wife Stacey; Laura Alyward, representing MP Judy Foote; Joan Bowen, Federation of Seniors and Pensioners link director for the west coast,; Father Aidan Devine, parish priest; and Angela White, a 20 -year member of the Twilight 50+ Club.

The official cutting of  the cake , made and decorated by Joan Hynes Nelson and her sister Sharon, was cut by Angela White and Cyril DuBourdieu, two club members who attended the official opening in June 13, 1990.

The main highlight of the evening was the viewing of the Memorial Wall, which displays photos of deceased members of the Twilight 50+ Club. Volunteer members Theresa Hann, Judy LaFite and Jeroma Phillippo worked together in arranging the frames, which were purchased with funds raised during a walkathon in June. A dance followed with music by Chris Conran. Funding for the event came from the Department of Health and Community Services.
